Edda
The Elder Epic

For Chamber Orchestra and Organ
Picture
Inspired by my backpacking trip to Iceland, this chamber work is through composed and highlights the broad range of environments and landscapes one might encounter upon the island country. Incorporating the organ as well as a wide range of percussion instruments, this piece could almost be described as a landscape painting or mental image of that almost alien landscape. The title is a reference to the great Icelandic Sagas or “Eddas” which contain the majority of what we know of today as Norse Mythology.
